Haitian-born Flawless Gretzky has spent most of his life living in Montreal, Boston and Miami. He is steeped in gangsta rap, which is more than a just music genre. For the Montreal-based artist, his music represents his life, after learning at a young age how to make it in the streets. His influences range from Tupac and Jadakiss to the New York and Atlanta hip-hop scenes. The musical result is a dark, gloomy, druggy universe.
Flawless’ music is a mix of catchy beats, confident flows and tireless work ethic. The beat has to speak to me. If the beat’s good, I’m automatically inspired, he shared. The young rapper can write lyrics to a song in 10 or 15 minutes when everything feels right. This raw power and authenticity make up the strength of his music. With over 80 000 views on YouTube for his videos (Eggshell, Mattress, They Mad, First Day Out), he has established his reputation in the local world of gangsta rap. He has also collaborated with world-renowned artists like Jamaica’s Alkaline.
2017 was big year for Flawless Gretzky. Last summer, he released six songs as part his Flawless Fridays series. After spending almost 6 years in prison, the artist (based out of Montreal’s Little Burgundy neighbourhood) released his debut mixtape H.I.M: History In The Making on September 15th via Make It Rain Records. He's performed at Igloofest (2018) alongside VNCE CARTER (Dead Obies) and was also part of M for Montreal’s 2017 lineup. He recently shared the music video for his song On the Map, featuring New York rapper Maino.
