Life Is Short, Mike Shabb’s 4th release, unveils a mature, personal side of the young Montreal-based rapper. This offering came about during a cottage retreat with producers VNCE CARTER and Danny Ill. The union behind these two creative brains pushed Shabb outside his comfort zone and brought forth an album that showcases his talent as both a singer and a rapper with many flows. For the first time, Mike Shabb performs over synthwave / 80s-flavoured beats by Danny Ill (Back Home, Lonely, Shine) as well as uptempo tracks (Slide, Focus, Jimmy Neutron). Life Is Short also includes a self-produced song - the first single, Hesitate - which Shabb candidly qualifies as “drill-wave”. All nine tracks on the album have catchy melodies that accompany Shabb’s straightforward and honest flows. Life is Short is a solid record that showcases Mike Shabb’s multiple strengths.
